DESCRIPTION: If you’re interested in lobbying your elected officials, it’s always best, as the saying goes, to "build the relationship before you make the ask". This virtual training will walk you through the basics of introducing yourself to your elected official (with an emphasis on meeting with state legislators), including:

• How to request and schedule a meeting

• Where to find and gather some basic information on their background and priorities

• How to decide what to share about yourself

• What questions to ask them

• What to listen for, how to take notes, and ideas for next steps
